Live stream set for championship; Jaksic/Zarazua team takes doubles title
ASHLAND, Ky. — Two American qualifiers played their way into the final in the main draw of the Braidy Industries $60,000 Women’s Tennis Classic at the Ashland Tennis Center on Saturday.
Maegan Manasse needed three sets to beat Misaki Doi of Japan 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-2 in a semifinal that lasted nearly two and a half hours. Manasse had two aces and didn’t have any double faults while winning 11 of her 15 services games (73%).
Manasse and Brodsky will face each other for the championship Sunday on the stadium court beginning at 1 p.m. The match will be broadcast live and can be viewed at ashlandprotennis.com.
The tournament’s top two seeds, No. 1 Caroline Dolehide and No. 2 Nao Hibino, withdrew in their quarterfinals matches on Friday. Hibino was down 1-2 to Brodsky and Dolehide was officially a walkover, not starting her match against Doi.
