Hibino advances, will face Osuigwe on live-streamed stadium court today

ASHLAND, Ky. — Gail Brodsky knocked off a seeded player in the main draw of the Braidy Industries $60,000 Women’s Tennis Classic on Wednesday. Brodsky used six aces to help defeat fifth-seed Olivia Rogowska of Australia 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 on the stadium court at the Ashland Tennis Center.

Brodsky (USA), who played her way into the main draw via qualifying earlier this week, moves on to the round of 16 where she will face Julia Elbaba (USA). Elbaba needed three sets to beat Abigail Tere-Apisah of Papua New Guinea 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 on Tuesday.

Maegan Manasse (USA), another qualifier, also beat a seeded player, No. 8 Mayo Hibi of Japan, and will face Amanda Rodgers today.

No. 2 seed Nao Hibino (Japan) and No. 4 seed Kristie Ahn (USA) advanced in their matches. Hibino defeated Emiliana Arango (Columbia) 6-2, 6-1 and Ahn beat Asia Muhammad (USA) 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

The round of 16 is now set and will begin this morning. Hibino will be live streamed on the stadium court beginning at 10 a.m. against Whitney Osuigwe (USA). Top-seed Carolina Dolehide will follow live streamed on the stadium court against Francoise Abanda (Canada).
