ASHLAND, Ky. — American Gail Brodsky rallied back after dropping the first set for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory over Maegan Manasse in the main draw final of the Braidy Industries $60,000 Women’s Tennis Classic at the Ashland Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

Brodsky had her serve broke only once, when the match was tied 3-3 in the first set. The break helped Manasse (USA) take the first set, but Brodsky rolled off 12 of the next 13 games for her first $60,000 USTA Pro Circuit title.

Brodsky, 27, played her way into the main draw via the qualifier last weekend. Three of her five main draw matches went three sets, as did her opening round qualifying match.

The championship lasted a little over an hour and a half and was played in front of a full stadium court crowd. The matchup was the second time Brodsky and Manasse faced each other in a final this year. Brodsky won a three-set match over Manasse to claim the title in a $15,000 tournament in Canada last month.

The Ashland tournament is an integral stop as part of the USTA Pro Circuit Wild Card Challenge, which allows American women to compete for a spot in next month’s US Open.

Ashland is the third in a string of five $60,000 USTA Pro Circuit women’s events that, along with the WTA tournaments in San Jose, Calif., and Washington, D.C., will help determine which American woman, whose ranking falls outside the direct-entry cutoff for the US Open, gets into the year’s final Grand Slam in New York. The women’s wild card will be awarded to the American with the highest cumulative total of WTA singles ranking points earned from their best two results during this five-week period.

Jaksic and Renata Zarazua (MEX) defeated Sanaz Marand (USA) and Whitney Osuigwe (USA) in the Braidy Industries Tennis Classic doubles championship on Saturday 6-3, 5-7, 10-4.

Brodsky’s Road to the Title:
Defeated Ashley Weinhold (USA) 6-2, 2-6, 6-1
Defeated Emily Fanning (NZ) 6-3, 6-2
Main Draw:
Defeated Olivia Rogowska (AUS) 6-3, 4-6, 7-5
Defeated Julia Elbaba (USA) 6-4, 4-6, 6-4
Defeated Nao Hibino (JAP) 2-1 ret.
